What is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic is a licensed healthcare profession focused on the diagnosis and conservative management of neuromusculoskeletal disorders, especially those involving the spine. Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs) use manual therapies, spinal adjustments, rehabilitative techniques, and evidence-based protocols to improve spinal alignment, restore function, and reduce pain.

The profession began in 1895 and has since evolved into a respected component of integrated care. Today, chiropractors complete 4+ years of doctoral education following undergraduate studies, including extensive training in anatomy, neurology, orthopedics, radiology, and clinical diagnosis. They are licensed by state boards and must meet national examination standards through the NBCE.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. When performed by a licensed chiropractor, spinal adjustments are extremely safe and effective. Our doctors tailor every treatment to your unique condition.

No referral is needed to schedule an appointment with us.

Absolutely. We use advanced spinal decompression (IDD Therapy®) and targeted chiropractic techniques to relieve disc pressure and restore function.

Chiropractors complete a 4-year doctoral program, including over 4,000 hours of clinical and didactic training, and must pass national board exams.

Many insurance plans, including auto accident claims (PIP), cover chiropractic care. Our staff can help verify your benefits.

Most patients find adjustments relieving. Some may experience mild soreness, similar to post-exercise fatigue, which resolves quickly.

Many patients report improvement within the first few visits. Chronic conditions may require more time depending on severity.

The “cracking” sound sometimes heard during manual adjustments is called a cavitation, which is simply a release of gas from the joint space—similar to opening a soda can. It’s painless and not necessary for a successful adjustment. Don’t be misled by amplified social media videos—those sounds are often exaggerated for views. Our doctors utilize various techniques, including the Activator® instrument and drop tables, that provide effective results with little to no sound. We carefully explain all treatment options and customize care based on your comfort, clinical findings, and preferences.

Our office does not perform in-house X-rays. While some clinics offer “free X-rays” as a marketing tactic, we focus on necessity and patient safety. X-rays are used to rule out pathology, assess structural integrity, or confirm whether any condition contraindicates chiropractic care. After a thorough history and physical exam, if no red flags or contraindications are present, treatment may begin on the same day. If imaging is indicated, our doctors can typically arrange same-day, walk-in appointments with trusted local imaging centers to avoid delays in care and ensure timely management. For traumatic injuries (e.g., car accidents, falls), X-rays or advanced imaging like MRI may be ordered to guide care.
